I am delighted to finally share with you this Designer Profile featuring Diana Kotb in the May Issue of British Vogue.

I have been waiting patiently for the hard copy but due to the boarder closures, it is taking a lot longer than expected, so a soft copy will suffice.

Thank you British Vogue for including me in your May Issue. We have worked extremely hard over the years to establish an ethical and sustainable luxury womenswear label for Modest women. To have British Vogue recognise your work, is a dream come true!

I am so honoured to have been acknowledged by such an iconic institution and I look forward to many more features!

As a community, we are facing an unprecedented challenge with the spread of COVID-19, also known as novel coronavirus.

Here at Diana Kotb, the well-being and safety of our family, including you all, is our top priority.

With that in mind, as the Covid-19 impact continues, we will closely monitor the Advice from the World Health Organisation as well as the Australian health authorities.

We have also put the following hygiene and cleaning measures in place:

• Strict hygiene practices to include disinfecting high touch areas. These are change rooms, counter spaces, and door handles after every appointment.
• Providing hand sanitiser at the front counter which we encourage all our customers to use.
• Limiting physical contact.

At this stage, we have decided the Showroom will remain open.

The showroom is open from 10am – 3pm Monday to Friday.

However, to limit contact between customers, we do advise you send us an email info@dianakotb.com or a Direct Message via Instagram before you arrive.

Online ordering will continue to operate as normal in terms of fulfilling orders and shipping them as quickly as possible.

As we know it is a tricky time to travel, we have introduced a SHIP4FREE coupon which can be used to ease the pressure.

This is officially my first week back at work and I am extremely excited for the year ahead. However, in the wake of the ravaging bushfires all over Australia, I am questioning the timing of my latest campaign.

It is such a fun, upbeat campaign and it doesn’t seem like the right moment to share that with you when so many are suffering.

Although I have donated, as I am sure many have already done, somehow it doesn’t seem like enough. 

I believe the dialogue needs to shift to what we can do as individuals and companies. To help support the local community and help reduce our carbon footprint, which has played a major part in the drought and fires.

WHAT CONTRIBUTES TO CLIMATE CHANGE:

•   Mass production of garments and the increase of fabric dying.

•   Mass production of synthetic fabrics such as Polyester.

•   Producing fast-fashion garments that last a season and then discarded.

•   Irresponsible packaging and branding.

For Diana Kotb the brand, our desire to stay local, to design and manufacture in Australia has never been stronger.

DIANA KOTB’S CLIMATE CHANGE PROMISE:

•   The brand will continue to support local fabric mills.

•   We will continue to honour one of our core principals and trade as an ethical and sustainable Australian brand.

•   We will strive to eliminate all synthetics fabrics from our garments by 2021.

•   We will transition to more environmentally friendly and biodegradable packaging in the next few months.

•   We will continue to produce in limited amounts to reduce excess stock and wastefulness.
