Florals may be sweet and feminine, but their strength lies in how you wear them. We love teaming a soft floral dress with a tough utilitarian coat to throw over your shoulders in the cool Spring evenings. We recommend the Hideaway Coat in Charcoal by Diana Kotb. Available now at www.dianakotb.com

Match your floral dress and Hideaway Coat with a pair of nude slingback sandals and mini crossover bag, for easy Spring elegance that will take you from day to night.

MET GALA’S ORIENTAL EXPRESS

It was an Orient affair at the Annual MET Gala this May hosted by Anna Wintour in New York.
Formally known as the Costume Institute Gala, the annual fundraiser marks the grand opening of the Costume’s Institute Annual Fashion Exhibition. This years theme  “China: Through the Looking Glass” explored the impact of Chinese aesthetics on Western fashion. With an exquisite collection of paintings, chinese costumes, porcelains and videos; the exhibition featured 140 haute couture and ready-to-wear garments. Notably were the Golden gown by designer Guo Pei, the Valentino red hand-beaded gown from their 2013 collection, and Roberto Cavalli China Vase gown.

As for the guests who attended the event,  Fan Bingbing, Brie Larson, Courtney Eaton, Annabelle Wallis and Stacy Martin shone brightly as they encapsulated the beauty and grandeur of the MET Gala.

If you love the theme and need a little oriental charm to add to your wardrobe, our Petal skirt in Print and Cerise are the perfect statement skirts for any occasion. Available now at our store.

SEEING STRIPES

Yes we forecasted the Black and White Stripe trend two seasons ago, but stripes are a big hit in the fashion spectrum and there is no sign of it slowing down anytime soon.

Valentino recently released a very similar version of our Touring Dress in Stripes, for the labels AW 2015 RTW Collection. We also saw a number of designers send stripes down the runway at Australian Fashion Week last month including Lee Mathews. Black and White Stripes also made an appearance in accessories from bags to shoes and belts.

So what is so special about the Stripe trend?

Well, besides the fact that it is supremely elegant and flattering on all body shapes, the striped print is timeless and can be worn in every season. It can be dressed up or down, depending on the occasion.

Own your striped piece today. The Touring Dress in Stripe is available now to purchase at the Diana Kotb Store.

5 things you didn’t know about the Vicereine Blouse

Posted on

_A1_0085

1. Where did the name come from?

The Vicerience Blouse, just like the title of The Collection, refers to the main protagonist in this collection. A Vicereine is a female representation of the monarchy in a country outside of her own. Although at times relaxed and casual, she must always remain polished. She is intelligent, demure and timeless. If you were to encapsulate these attributes into an item of clothing – you would produce the Vicereine neck-tie blouse.

2. What is the reason’s behind the design?

When designing this blouse, I had a clear image of the Vicereine. She is an extremely powerful, ambitious and respected woman. She is placed in a predominantly male role and excels at it.

I really wanted the piece to draw on masculine tones of a very traditional business shirt and feminise it. Instead of the strict collar – I chose to soften it with the tie-neck. Instead of exposing the buttons in the front – they were beautifully concealed as a woman should be. The hem was also rounded off as opposed to squaring hem, to add femininity to the blouse. I chose a french seam to polish all of the finishes inside the garment.

3. How to wear The Vicereine Blouse?

The Vicereine Blouse is one of the most versatile items of clothing a woman could have in her wardrobe.
– For day, it can be worn with a pair of jeans or casual pants. Try layering it with a crew neck or v-neck knit.
– For work, you could simply team the blouse with your favourite suit, skirt or blazer.
– For night, I love the idea of wearing this blouse with a pair of palazzo pants, a blazer over the shoulders and heels. Try wearing it underneath a dress with the bow tucked out at the neckline.

4. What body shape does it suit?

The blouse will work in two different ways for those who have a larger bust-line and those with a smaller bust-line. To read more, see our previous post.

5. How does Diana Kotb wear her Vicereine Blouse?

The Vicereine Blouse is a staple in my wardrobe.
As a working mother it is a great blouse to just pop on with a pair of palazzo pants and blazer/coat and be on my way. I don’t really have a lot of time to style outfits, so I just need great pieces that work well with everything.
I love wearing the Prim blouse when I want to feel feminine and light. It instantly lifts my mood and adds a little colour on a cold Autumns day. I team my Prim Vicereine blouse with a Diana Kotb Black Altas jacket, light denim washed boyfriend jeans and silver loafers. An easy option that will take me from day to night effortlessly.

HOW TO WORK THIS SEASONS MUST HAVE: THE VICEREINE TIE-NECK BLOUSE

Posted on

 three

This season’s must have piece is the Vicereine tie-neck blouse.

Love the look, but you just don’t know if it suits you?

Our resident Designer and Stylist Diana Kotb, is here to help solve your problems.

Here are her tips…

The Vicereine blouse will work in two different ways for those who have a larger bust-line and those with a smaller bust-line.

For a larger bust-line:

– Try and wear the tie-neck simply crossed over, instead of tying it in a bow. This will bring the focus away from your bust-line.

– Add a blazer to the look to form some structure. I recommend a dark-coloured blazer.

For those who have a smaller bust-line:

– Tie the neck-tie in a large bow. This will bring the attention and focus up towards the neckline. A perfect way to add volume in the most demure and modest of ways.

Remember the neck-tie blouse is a season’s must have, but it is also a timeless piece for any wardrobe. Purchase yours today!

The Vicereine Blouse is available now at the Diana Kotb store in Pippi,Prim and White.
